Did you know ...

I read today, on a pamphlet about "Prospect" Magazine - a fairly new political/essay/comment type thing - that:
Fidel Castro's fascination with Alexander the Great led him to name three of his sons Alexis, Alexander and Alejandro.
It doesn't mention the link in, say, the Wikipedia article on Castro, but it seems very plausible!

Hi Marcus,

I really think that is cool! 8) I didn't know.

I must admit, as Shakespeare said,
"What's in a name? That which we call a rose
By any other word would smell as sweet."
Some people think otherwise,

Best regards,

I wonder why Fidel has such an interest in him...not that i don't he should. He's also a big fan of Owen Glendower, but that makes sense because he was a Guerilla fighter like Castro.

Is he now? Wow, there aren't that many non-British Isles people (and not that many non-Welsh) who've the foggiest idea about Glendower. Good for Castro!
