For PC Games I know of these:--- of course, the Alexander game (based on Cossacks), that was issued together with the Stone movie this year. Simply called: Alexander. Never bought it, never played it. It runs on an engine developed for other games. No so great. See:
http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/ale ... ew.html--- in 1997 I-Magic issued the Great Battles of Alexander strategy game. Though hopelessly outdated in graphic etc. now, it is still a fine game to come an understand the functions of certain units and troops in the army. Up to now I would still vote this the best. See: http://www.ianm.clara.net(The game is officially dead, but Ian M. still runs this fansite.)--- Of course, not really anything to do with Alexander (although you can put yourself in the shoes of the Seleucids and the house of Ptolemy at Raphia) but a great game roughly covering the era of ancient warfare: Rome Total War. This game takes over were I-Magic's Great Battles ended. Superb graphics and good gameplay, but not as historically accurate as I-Magic's game was.--- For board games there is still the Great Battles of History series (never understood how this works, entirely undiscovered territory for me). http://patriot.net/~townsend/GBoH/gboh.htmlRegards ---Nick

Although not a a game specifically about Alexander, Rome Total War is an excellent game set at the time of the successor kingdoms and the rise of Rome.Better still, is if you use the Rome Total Realism mod (made by a dedicated team of volunteers, but it really is a very professional and well researched piece of work)you can then play as the Macedonian Antigonid dynasty. Or the Seleucids or Ptolomeys.http://www.rometotalrealism.com/It's been really well done, with Illyrians, Thracians, Hypaspists, Thessalian cavalry. And with the cusom battles option you can try recreate battles of Alexander.

There's another game out called Tin Soldiers: Alexander the Great.findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_zdcgw/is_200504/ai_n9522238I haven't played it so I can't recommend it one way or the other. I do have the Great Battles of Alexander game that Nick mentioned and I think it is thoroughly enjoyable although I have little time to play. My fifteen year old thinks it's hopelessly outdated though - which it is, I suppose considering how much games have advanced in the almost ten years since it was made. The kids of the Halo 2 generation don't want anything that isn't completely realistic, I'm afraid. :-)Best regards,Amyntoros

Other PC games about Alexander are:Alexander: The Heroes hour (2004)GÇ£This historical real-time strategy and role-playing game sees players assuming command of Alexander the Great's elite Macedonian soldiers.GÇ¥ (Gamespot)Apparently it was only released in Europe and it got some mixed reviews.
The following are not exclusively about Alexander but features Alexander the Great campaigns:Empire Earth (2001)GÇ£Empire Earth is a real-time strategy game that spans about a half a million years of human history, the last 200 of which take place 200 years from now.GÇ¥ (Gamespot)It got a 7.9 (good) review.http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/empireearth/
Rise of Nations: Thrones and Patriots (2004)It is an expansion pack of Rise of Nations which is said to be the best real-time strategy game of 2003, and GameSpot's 2003 PC Game of the Year, here-¦s part of the review about AlexanderGÇÖs campaign:GÇ£However, at the heart of the expansion are four new "conquer the world" campaigns, based on Alexander the Great, Napoleon, the conquest of the New World, and the Cold War.
(GǪ) In Alexander the Great's campaign, you have a limited amount of time in which you must wrest control of the ancient world, including Europe, the Middle East, and India.Gǥ
http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/ris ... hrone/Rise and Fall: Civilizations at War (2006)
GÇ£In Rise & Fall: Civilizations at War, you can command one of four ancient empires: Greece, Rome, Egypt, and Persia. Achieve victory on the battlefield by developing clever strategies and fighting alongside your troops.GÇ¥ Finally this a promising (and ambitious) Roman Total War resemblance upcoming game where each civilization will have two unique heroes, including Rome's Julius Caesar and Germanicus Caesar, Egypt's Cleopatria and Ramses the Great, Greece's Achilles and Alexander the Great, and Persia's Sargon and Nebuchadnezzer.
About these hero units: GÇ£Hero units are nothing new to strategy games, but the way Rise & Fall will use them certainly seems to be. You'll be able to control your hero amid the frenzy of battle, invoking special abilities and attempting to turn the tide in your troops' favor. Where it gets really interesting is when the game lets you drop the camera down to battlefield level so you can take real-time control of your hero unit. In the example we saw, the player controlled Alexander from an up-close, third-person perspective not unlike most modern action games. Alexan

(Message continuos)Alexander was able to use his bow and arrow to quickly pick off enemy troops, and a regular onscreen crosshair made the game look a lot like a shooter. How this action-oriented hero mode is fully implemented and balanced by Stainless Steel will be quite interesting, especially since this feature has the potential to really set Rise & Fall apart from the RTS pack.GÇ¥ (Gamespot)As a curious note, Rick Goodman, the game developer, describe Alexander in a game showing as: GÇ£A man of unquenchable thirst for battle. In combat heGÇÖs bold and genius and fearless yet also reckless, maniacal and terrifyingGÇ¥ http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/ris ... ionsatwar/
