Hi all:If you've looked at this site you'll know that it contains precious little information. I was curious -- was it about the Stone project, the Luhrmann project, or an independent? So I emailed the contact given, one Steven Mayas. He answered thus:-----
This is an independent, which has been in development for several years, and was the cause and catalyst for the hype which generated so many copy-cat productions. This film however, is the only production endorsed and supported by the Greek community internationally as well as the Athens Olympics Committee 2004, and is recognized as the only movie legitimately portraying Alexander's life!
-----So there. The Contact has spoken.I had read about this project before, and I think it's being supported financial by Greek industrialists, even a shipping magnate, I think. It will star one Steven Stratos in the title role -- Mayas confirmed that also.Love & peace,
Karen

Yes, and I noticed on this site they are using the soundtrack created some time ago in hopes of finding a movie. The composer wrote that he had a movie in mind when he composed it. Some of the music might have been better without the constant "alexandros" refrain, but it has some powerful moments, as well as some poignant themes, also. Nice cover work on the single album, too, though they chnaged it a bit for the 4 CD collection.

Hello Karen,I also wrote them an email (shown below)and received this...Hello,I am writing an epoch poem on Alexander, and am curious as to when you are expecting your movie to be released? How vast is the scope? Will you cover his early years, the battles, the filler stuff? Who is this actor? Alexander was blonde haired, and blue (blue to grey) eyed. What is your budget? We at pothos.org are very curious to know more.Sincerely,
Nick ChristakesDear Nicholas,This is a $120 million budgeted feature film, showing the true life of Alexander from birth to death. The actor is Steven Stratos, who is considered and regarded by many as an identical Alexander bassed on the Issus Mosaic. This Mosaic is considered by most, to be the closest pothos we
will ever truly get to Alexander, and this is the image of Alexander we are portraying. There are so many varying descriptions on Alexander's appearance, from hair color to eye color, that we are using the mosaic as we truly believe this to be the closest in image, we will ever truly know. This
also is the image most portrayed and used internationally, including Greece!
The release is scheduled for late 2004/early 2005, and is the only project officially endorsed and supported by the Greek community internationally.Best regards,
Later Nicator

Thus, rain sodden and soaked, under darkness cloaked,
Alexander began, his grand plan, invoked...

Ah- my oversight. For those of you interested in the score, the composer is Stamatis Spanoudakis. He has been selected as the composer for the movie score.

I saw the previews on the site and I think they looked awful. It was suitable for a theme park, not a serious film.

For what it is worth, the portrait of Alexander on the mosaic reminds me of CNN's Nick Robertson. Robertson seems to be a native of England, isn't he?

Thanks, Karen,I liked the teasers and the music is profoundly moving. I would love to see a theme park using the gallery pictures as a guideline. Good Idea, Susan.I now wonder if Andrew Weber could top this. I doubt it, but then that is what competition and challenge is all about, isn't it? I just like the stanzas from Invisible Enemy with musical accompaniment. Imagination! It is wonderful, isn't it?Jan
