It's unlikely that Alexander ordered the tomb construction to be halted, as Alexander was responsible for (and indeed wanted) the proper burial of Darius. It's far more likely that his successors were responsible for the termination of construction of Darius' tomb. Darius III was defeated by the better man, over 2300 years ago...get over it...
