Help?Please...

Post by mara »

I've been doing a lot of reading on Alexander and I love the guy(as I'm sure most of you here do)and I want to get to know as much about him as possible. Now,someone on the net mentioned the quote "Alexander was only defeated once and that was by Hepheastion's thighs." and I never heard it before so I figured I should ask you guys. So,where's it from or did the person just make it up?Thanks for the help!Mara

Hi MaraIt was a quote from a group of Cynic philosophers - the reference is possibly a letter of Diogenes, Epist. 24 p241. I got this reference from Robin Lane Fox's biography of Alexander, page 56.
