I want to recommend the book Achilles by Elizabeth Cook since it is a modern version of the man most inspirational to Alexander. This book is excellent in its vivid imagery and imaginative portrayal of the characters and events. I especially love the conception of Achilles. You must not miss this book! It offers insights into Apollo and Achilles that I had never considered. According to Ms. Cook, Zeus seems to favor Achilles over Apollo, and I found that extraordinary. The struggle between Achilles and the Amazona is sheery poettry.
