Manfredi's To the Ends of the Earth

Post by jan »

I like it that Manfredi has Alexander realize that at last he is "on his own" in this book. I found that phrase illuminating and a clue to the mystery within the mind of the author. As a friend of yore once said to me, Always keep a mystery around you. And this book has conveyed to me the true mystery of Alexander. I especially love the trip to the mountain top with Aristander to meet Parmenion in spirit. Parmenion tells Alexander he has found peace being reuinted with his sons. That is quite a touching chapter, and I salute Manfredi for this piece of his mind. Thanks, Valerio, for helping us to see through this vale of tears.
