Meanwhile, while waiting for the long-due announcements about the skieleton and the rest of the findings at Kasta...here is an award-winning greek historical film (2009) which is rare because of the fact that it deals with an historical period that greek cinematography rarely deals with. The link is above. Title: "The Black Field"

In 1650, when Greece as under Ottoman rule, a Turkish jannisaire (ottoman soldier who was made into one after being taken by force from his greek parents and was forced to become muslim and fight continuosly against the christians) defects and arrives at a christian monastery. Here he falls for sister Anthe without knowing that she is a boy whose mother, the abbess of the monastery has disguised him so he is not taken by the muslims. The abbess comes to an agreement with the Ottomans to surrender the defector in exchange for money. The janissarie asks from Anthe to help him escape.

The film is very atmoshperic, filmed on Pilio, Achilles' birthplace. There are no subtitles available but anyway, the characters are not very chatty. There are some sexual scenes, not very offensive. The film may be a little boring but isw aesthetically beautiful!
