Persian arrow head

Post by Alexias »

Just thought I'd share a recent birthday present. It's about 3 inches long, bronze, dated about 1800 BC. It's meant to be Persian from Asia Minor, but I'm not sure the Persians as a nation existed then, or whether they would have been in Asia Minor at that time, which I think was when the Hitties would have been dominant in Asia Minor (but I could be wrong).

Cool!

Certainly I wouldn't expect anything Persian to turn up in Asia Minor before the 6th century BC. Hittite quite possibly, or Phrygian, or even Assyrian (although in the 2nd millennium they only really had trading colonies in Asia Minor). It also rather depends on whereabouts in Asia Minor it comes from. But I wouldn't expect it to be Persian!
