Re: Eugene Borza on Stone's
Golden masks, remarkably similar to the ones that were found in these excavations were found also in Thrace, Asia Minor and (of cource) Mycenae... these come to mind, perhaps there're more that I'm not aware of.

Re: Where can I find a Macedonian calander?
Quite right Marcus, I had it posted :-) I found it here: http://www.geocities.com/etaireiadeukalion/8.htmlThere are all the names of the months in the various Greek regions, as well as (no 10) the names of the monehts during the French revolution or 1789! Macedonian names of months: Peritios = Jan, ...

Our Italian friends (Cinecitta?) were putting all Greek myths and stories on film back then. They were usually low-budget and poor historically, but not necessarily "bad" films (well, it was no Ben Hur either!

Re: Boukephalos
Of course Stavro, most of what we know about this horse (as well as what you mentioned above) lies in the sphere of mythology!
Perhaps the only thing we know for sure is that it has died of old age after the battle of Hydaspes and a city was named after it. And of course that Alexander loved it!

Sorry, but apart for the Celt representatives that visited to congratulate Alexander after his Balkan victories, I don't recall any other contact.Pictyres of oak wreaths: http://alexander.macedonia.culture.gr/2/21/211/21117a/00/lk17a07g.jpg http://alexander.macedonia.culture.gr/2/21/211/21117a/00/lk...

Re: Macedonian Oaks and Celtic Druids
But we do not have such examples amongst the Macedonians. If you reffer to oak leaf chaplets that were found, these were far from worship items. They were decorative, a theme taken from nature. We have plenty of examples of decorative leaf-like chaplets (wreaths?) in ancient Greece, but no recording...

Re: Alexander the Great a Mirdites Albanian
"Timocracy" is a political system proposed both by Plato & Aristotle with a few differences between them. They both support Oligarchy against Democracy which, they support, has been turned into Ochlocracy (as in nowadays). But it is Plato who proposes "rule by honor" meaning ...

Re: Name confirmation?
Greeks called it Persepolis but the original name was Parsa.
Iranians today usually call the city both ways but in maps you see it as Persepolis.

Hi Ruth. Thanks for sharing this and congatulations dear!
One comment: most people tend to agree that it was not Philip who was buried in the tomb. We had plenty of discussions in Pothos as well. All the best,
Yiannis

Re: Does this thing come with a cup-holder?
I also think it was premediated. Archaological excavations on the site have shown (Of course) evidence that it was destroyed by fire, but amongst the burned material they have failed to find any objects of value which shows that the place has been cleared before it was set ablaze.
