Re: Sickness in Alexander's army
Armies, at least in recent times, have been plagued with cases of std's. It raises an interesting question about what sexually transmitted diseases were prevalent in Alexanders'day, and what remedies there were.

Hi JimI envy you. I revisited Michael Wood's video of "In the Footsteps of...." and thought how fortunate he was to be bale to make the programme. Can you imagine? And getting paid too! Chris

Re: Alexandrias so Called Drinking.Cassander Propoganda
I seem to recall reading that Alexander lost many days to hangovers, sometimes three or four at a time - some hangover. Let's face it, he was a young virile king, in a hard drinking culture, and he would have had to have been the best......

Re: A message for Oliver the Stoned!
HiWhat a tragic waste of a glorious opportunity to tell at least part of the Alexander story. For me, there was little right about about the film, it didn't work on any level.

Re: The Director's Cut of Alexander
Hi JanI saw the Directors Cut version on Saturday and thought it pretty awful. I take your point, but kids today, in the UK at least, can see similar scenes on breakfast tv whilst eating their morning cornflakes. Chris

To ATG:1. Who did you most love?
2. Of what are you most proud?
3. What is your favourite memory?

Re: Paris Match & Oliver Stone
The UK Daily Telegraph carried an article during the week suggesting that the film will be rescued by rest of world sales - it's doing better apparently outside the US.

Alexanders moving city
I find it astonishing that an army and entourage of ATGs size can be fed and watered, on the move, through the seasons, year after year. Why didn't his enemies capitalise on this more?

Re: Alexander movie
I noticed yesterday that the film has taken just some -ú2 million in the UK, and is disappearing rapidly from the charts. I confess I haven't seen it yet. I've been put off by the dreadful reviews, and will wait for dvd. At least then I can leave the room as often as I want. Good to know you enjoyed...

Re: Iron Maiden: British Rock n Roll at its best
HiIn spite of their image, Bruce Dickinson (I think was lead vocals) had the benefit of a very good education, and is now, in addition to being a performer, a commercial airline pilot. The head banging didn't do lasting damage.

Re: Influence of Aristotle
HiThank you all for your comments. I recently attended a lecture, at a Rudolf Steiner school, and great emphasis was put on the teaching of Aristotle to the young ATG. Steiner apparently believed, no, knew, of a spiritual world, and it takes a great leap forward to accept his pronouncements. That sa...

Re: Influence of Aristotle
HiSome believe he initiated Alexander in a spiritual way. Was it just chance the two were thrown together? It may seem a bit spooky, but Alexander was extraordinary - from an early age.
