Marcus, I agree that this program seemed to handle things so well. They never said this definately is what happened and even left you pondering at the end that could it have been because too much hellebore was used? Did someone maybe tamper with the doses? Did Alexander insist on stronger doses to s...

Usually I watch these things and pay a bit of interest, but this one captivated me completely! I am trying to see if it is airing again. This seems to make so much sense and being that they had historians in the research process as well does help with the validity of it all. The things they said mad...

I just got done watching a very interesting one hour special on the Science channel named " Alexander the Great Murder Unsolved". These people took a year to research all aspects of this topic. Was Alexander murdered? Poisoned? They had scientist, doctors, psychiatrist, detectives, and his...

Another interesting fact Amun was later linked to Re/Ra and became Amun Ra so two more God's were merged. The earliest dynasty I could find that worshipped Amun is the 11th dynasty. http://www.touregypt.net/featurestories/amun-re.htm Some assume that Amun (Amen, Amon) was a relatively modern god wit...

I'm not sure of the exact year the Egyptians started worshipping Amun but he was an Egyptian God at the time of Alexander's conquests. I don't think I stated Alexander was the only one to link the two Gods together (if it seemed that way I apologize) I think it was a pesonal decission and not one th...

Hi Vergina, I think Alexander would have chosen Knowledge. I think through knowledge everything else would fall in place so he could have it all. :D From what I have learned both here and through my researching it seems that Alexander thought things through before he acted. How else could he have ac...

Very true words Vergina. I feel Alexander was very passionate about religion and appreciated that about the Egyptians. He linked their God Amun with Zeus and had no problems worshiping their Gods for I think he believed them to be the same just with different names.???? We will never know for sure, ...

I found this for you Smitty: http://touregypt.net/featurestories/agt6.jpg The temple of Alexander the Great located in the Bahariya Oasis has the distinction of being the Macedonian ruler's only known temple in Egypt. The temple was built during Alexander's lifetime and dedicated to Amun and Horus. ...

Alexander and Egypt

As some of you may know two of my favorite things to talk about are ancient Egypt and Alexander the Great. I first became interested in Egypt as a child and have researched ancient Egypt extensively. I guess it is not a surprise that when I came across Alexander in Egyptian history it stirred my cur...

I agree that the Persians did gain knowledge and art from the Greeks that they put to their own use. They learned that some of the Greek ways were beneficial to themselves and used those while leaving the less desirable ones to fade away. It seems some parts of the Persian empire didn't hate the Gre...
