Re: Teacher Seeks Help
HI Kay, With so much exposure today through the medium of television and the internet, I don't think that you will be able to prevent your young students from learning anything that they can find on the internet. But you are wanting an answer to why Alexander is great, and that can best be understoo...

Re: Alexander the Great Louvre Museum Exhibition
I hope to see this during holiday season. I am using the portrait that caught my attention at the Louvre as wallpaper on my computer and as profile pic on Facebook. Judgement at thebes.

Hi Marcus, Great photos. Especially like the pics of Persepolis and tomb of Cyrus, statue of ATG, and Hellespont. Am seeing these through Android phone. Thus, very brief statements.

Re: an account from Athenaeus(?)
Thanks for all the links. It is amazing to think how scholars interpret each selection. I was quite impressed with the story of the young girl who had been married 14 times. Olympias has made some interesting comments as well. As for being devoted to boys, that seems a matter of interpretation since...

Re: Gedrosian desert!
I believe that Alexander knew about previous histories from Xenophon and the Ten Thousand, and now Cyrus and Semiramis, as these were pretty fundamentally as well known to his generation as is the histories of in the USA George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, in Europe, sorry, I do not know who is c...

Re: Why did Alexander spare the house of Pindar at Thebes?
Hello Marcus, This post has certainly surprised me. I am interested in your concordance if you simply want an interest gauge, but I find that I cannot send a pm and have no idea why. I did go to the faq to see what it says...I would like to know why I cannot send a private message. I see that this d...

Re: Gedrosian desert!
My interest is not the number who perished but how and why did those who survived manage to do so? It appears that those who were sacrificed in this desert run were at the back of the pack, but those up in the front managed to make their way through...I am wondering why and how...Alexander's good lu...

Re: Philip II of Macedonia: Greater than Alexander
Reading this is rather interesting to me since I believe that it was Alexander who was hailed by the soldiers as their kIng after his performance at Charonea, not Philip who they acknowledged as their general; and Philip supposedly was proud that they hailed Alexander as such, not the "generals...

Re: My novel "Shadow of the Lion"
That is very exciting news about your novel, Ruthaki. I remember when you first discussed it, so it has been quite a journey to finish it I see. Much good luck in finding the right publisher for your work. I have begun an effort to write a novel also, but am only in first draft stage...I rewrite it ...

Re: exhibition in Madrid
I just checked to see when the exhibition will be held at the Louvre. The dates are from October 6, 2011 through January 1, 2012. Google search produced many different sources of information about this exhibition. It is called The Kingdom of Alexander the Great and will have have over 500 items gath...

Re: exhibition in Madrid
Thanks for this information about the exhibitions shown in Europe. Can you give more details about the exhibition to be seen in Paris? Where? When? Etc. Please do not feel that difficulties in English whether speaking or writing should keep you from continuing to communicate to others through this P...
