Re: Jan/O'Brien
Hello Mr. O'Brian, It's great to have someone of your stature to confer with. With that said, I would like to take the opportunity to ask some questions. How did the Persepolis incendiary incident affect the ancient Persian's viewpoint of Alexander (if at all)? Was the burning justified? How did thi...

The longest Hour
Hello fellow Pothosians,In every epoch there is a decisive era. In every era there is a decisive war. In every war a decisive battle. In every battle there is the decisive moment...That moment which seemed like an eternity, where all was in doubt and one man rose to the occasion and turned the tide....

Re: Crossing the River
Hello Aen, One wonders whether or not it was even possible to land a beach head as it were on the opposite bank under such hostile conditions. How much of a beach head was available? I picture something like 5 GÇô 10 feet deep, and maybe 20 feet wide (at the most). Hardly enough to achieve a substan...

Crossing the River
Hello fellow Pothosians,Arrian states that Alexander planned on crossing the Danube, but after seeing the Getae amassed on the other side, decided against it. He decided instead on a nightime crossing on small boats and bivoucked tents. Here it seems is another indication that the crossing of the Gr...

Re: Queries on the Iliad.
Hello Dean,If I'm not mistaken, archaeologists have discovered weaponry and armaments which match the descriptions given in the Illiad on the site of Troy. Also, that the Troy given in the Illiad is built upon the remains of several older cities, and it is itself buried beneath several newer cities....
