Re: Was alexander a thug and were Macedonians Thugs
Hi GB,I enjoyed that. By all accounts ATG took three days to recover from some of his drinking sessions - I imagine he didn't exactly have total recall of the evenings events...."......we burnt WHAT down!!!"Chris

Hi JanI've read that piece too, but wouldn't it have been done in the cold light of day - more ritualistic? Accounts seem to suggest it was done during a heavy drinking session, ATG being goaded into a spontaneous drunken act of vandalism.Regards,Chris

Re: Was alexander a thug and were Macedonians Thugs
HiI daresay the learned professor can support her argument with many examples of ATGs so called thuggery, although I'm not sure why she feels so strongly about mountains. Re: Alexander's tomb
Hi SusanWhat a story - ATG would have a chuckle wouldn't he? Can you imagine, in 2300 years time people will be able to see film footage of todays events, and perhaps the location of ATGs grave will still be a mystery...Chris

Re: don't use the word gay
HiI agree. Too much is made of his sexuality - it suits other peoples agenda perhaps. I believe the Macedonians did have a fearsome reputation for drinking -it was part of their culture. Much like the Scots (that's a joke)
