Re: Heroes in the Movies
HiThe dictionary defines hero as: a man distinguished by exceptional courage, nobility etc. A man who is idealised for possessing superior qualities in any field. I guess it depends on your vantage point - one persons hero could be another persons tyrant. A major role in a movie can help.Regards,Chris

ATGs view of the world
Would ATG really have believed the world to be flat? Astronomers in the ancient world at the time, I believe, knew the world to be round - surely this theory would have been known to Aristotle? What do you suppose his perceptions were?Chris

Re: Alexander's most difficult battle.
HiGaugamela, because it showed ATG for the true genius that he was. The battle, for me, encapsulates all that was "great" about Alexander - strategy, leadership, bravery, and he was in his prime. The events surrounding the battle also add magic to the whole event.Chris

HiI seem to recall ATG was quoted as asking his troops before a battle to shave off their beards ...because no purchase could be made on a beard by the enemy. Is this based on fact? Let's have a heated debate.ChrisChris

Re: how he looked
HiHis father was, I believe, 5feet 2inches, although, I think it's "a fact" that sons are always taller than their mothers? I like to imagine ATG to be about 5 foot 4 inches, with reddish brown hair, wiry and athletic, and as hard as nails, with the constitution of an ox. The very opposite...
