Hi Dean

You bring up an interesting point. Alexander is known in most parts of the world. In different societies and cultures he is remembered for very different reasons. Whether you are the conquered or the conquerors would definately impact on how you viewed Alexander.

Hi theaccursed Your reply as to why you think Alexander was unfortunate is very intereting. You claim Alexander was unfortunate because he got the opposite, or a distortion, of everything he ever wanted. You quite clearly state throughout your reply, that your justifications for this view point is b...

Did the incident at Delphi take place?? Maybe! Did Alexander treat the Sanctuary and/ or priestess with disrespect? Maybe! Would he do such a thing? Again this is open to interpretation. Would it have been out of character for Alexander to use force in getting his way? Evidence indicates that such b...

New Book Out: The Oracle

Under the "Was Alexander a God" Topic, there was alot of discussion re: Oracles. A book called "The Oracle: The lost secrerts and hidden message of Ancient Delphi" by William J. Broad. Penguin Press, (2006). might shed some light on the topic. I have not read it, so can't comment...

HI theaccursed. This is an interesting view point. Should a new topic be started? Was Alexander a fortunate or Unfortunate King? The way each individual views Fortune is relative etc, etc.. I always thought Alexander was favoured by fortune. How should fortune be measured in Alexanders case?

Approximately how many individuals were killed during the campaigns of Alexander?? I get a general feeling that there is an assumption that Alexander achieved his conquests and control through minimal loss of life. Its a very romanticised view of war!!! People were killed, oppressed and sold into sl...

It amazes me how easy it is to find parallels in all great stories. Good guys, bad guys, higher powers.... Aliens!! Of course Alexander was an alien!!! The different coloured eyes were the dead giveaway (did he have different coloured eyes)? One was really a camera taking footage of the lesser being...

The Mesopotamian Misadventure is a very awful thing to contemplate!! Some of the things i have read about, that have occured in and around the ancient site of Babylon, are appalling. I cant remember where i read it, but apparently this area is no longer World Heritage Listed. Who cares its only a bu...

Hi Susan,

That sounds fantastic. Computer imaging/matching etc would be the way to go.Unfortunately, it would probably be very expensive and time consuming. But to actually see items like that is an exciting experience.

I always thought that at the time of Philips murder, the wheels were already in motion for the full invasion of Persia. As to the young Alexander story...who will ever know if it true. Maybe he was parroting what he heard around him, as children tend to do, or he was gifted, or both. We can assume f...
