I have the same opinion. Hephaistion appears weak-willed and pra...

Re: The Making of a God

I sort of enjoyed it given my expectations, meaning that the ‘expectations-performance gap’ was small for me. (I am an amateur, someone who loves the history of Alexander, not an Alexander historian.) While I did not particularly care for the brooding Alexander, I thought that the actor did a decent...

Alexias and Chris, you may find the following articles on Hephaestion’s funeral pyre interesting. Due to copyright considerations, I am mostly providing the references, unless the articles are found on the net. Thank you, System1988! Your post made me do some research as it is very intriguing. Here’s an interesting academic article on the topic, which raises some interesting questions about ‘Alexander’s Ladder’ - https://www.academia.edu/1570294/Alexander_at_Tempe_Polyaenus_4_3_21_Old_memories_for_tourists...

Re: New historical fiction on Alexander and friends

Greetings Sikander: I also enjoyed reading ‘Aniketos.’ I thought it was an easier read than the first book, which was made difficult by an unusually harsh portrayal of both Philip and Olympias.
