Re: Alexander (and the Greeks) do North America...

As of early last week, the Field museum has not yet confirmed the exhibit. They are hoping to get confirmation soon.
I myself hope for it as the Field Museum is close to home. :D

Re: TV programme

This reminds me of Michael Woods' " In the Footsteps of Alexander the Great", although maybe a bit more 't.v. friendly'. I'd like to see a book accompany the journey they made during the series. Either way, it looks interesting!

Re: Alexander Quotes On Fear

Probably not. But I personally wouldn't take many of the quotes attributed to him as his actual words anyway.
It's a nice quote though!

Re: The moles at Tyre.

Chris,
That helps out quite a bit. Strange how it only shows one ancient causeway. Maybe Alexander built the second right on top of the first. Or maybe the first just didn't get very far before failing. Anyway, thank you for the file. It was a big help.

The moles at Tyre.

I have seen several different diagrams showing the Tyre siege. It's well known that they had constructed a second mole after the first one failed. Something to do with how the tide was coming in was destroying the first so they built the second at a different angle. One diagram I saw had the first m...

Re: Alexander the cross-dresser?

Was this in any way a 'common' practice back in the day? Dressing like a God? Anyone know of other instances? And it didn't seem to emphasize that he dressed as a female God, just the fact that he had a habit of dressing up as God's in general. And one that was mentioned happened to be female. I won...

Re: Any info on Alexander's ring depicted in Oliver Stone's

Hello, I did quite a bit of searching online for replicas of the ring and could not find much. I did see a couple sites that offer to make movie replica jewelry for very good prices. I can't remember the name of the site but if you search replica movie jewelry it should pop right up. I hope this hel...

Re: For Spitamenes: Philip II- Momments in the excavation

It's amazing how old that cloth is. that's something I'd like to see in person. Im sure there's plenty of things from that tomb I'd really like to look at closely. There aren't too many examples of cloth from that long ago. Like the wooden banisters at Pompeii. That's really cool to see something th...

Re: Alexander's campaign on Google earth

Haven't checked it out yet, sounds strangely familiar though. :D I was going to try and put together an Alexander map for pothos a long time ago but after talking the details over with my techie friends, I found it was far more than I could handle. I wanna wait until I get to my home computer to loo...

Re: For Spitamenes: Philip II- Momments in the excavation

So it was completely buried then.. facade and all. That's definitely not how things are nowadays. I guess back then they had to worry about security issues too though. They couldn't really guard the tomb at all times and if it was above ground it would be a beacon for grave robbers. I wonder if it w...

Re: My novel "Shadow of the Lion"

I was going to mention a trilogy. :) . It is all the rage these days. And though it wasnt a trilogy, I could see bringing Alexander into the limelight like Brown did for Davinci a possibility.

I say go for it Ruth! :D Just remember who gave you the idea...
Oh wait... it was Agesilaos..

Im happy to hear your sticking to your guns on this. Too many stories have been butchered due to extreme editing, by the people who 'know whats best'.
Best of luck!

Re: A solar observatory in the lion-hunt painting at Vergina

However, yes there was kind of a speedy proccess involved in the building and the burying of the tomb and its enterior, even though full of riches, was not that looked after. It seems that someone was really in a rush to finish with the funerals, the rites, the cries as well as the various father f...
